- Tool type
- Email inbox API for AI agents
- Made for
- Developers and agent builders
- Runs on
- Hosted API with SDKs and CLI
- Used through the AgentMail API, Python and TypeScript SDKs, a CLI, and an MCP server; the console is for setup and keys, not the runtime.
What it does
AgentMail provisions email inboxes for AI agents and exposes them as API resources. A developer or agent creates an inbox with one call, then sends and receives messages, retrieves threads, handles attachments, and uses drafts, all programmatically instead of through a human email interface.
Typical uses include agents that hold ongoing email conversations. In one example, an agent requests a quote, its run ends, a vendor replies days later with a PDF, a webhook notifies the application, and a new run retrieves the thread and replies. Permissions control which inboxes an agent can access, and Pods keep each customer's inboxes and domains in a separate workspace.
It suits developers and teams building agent products that need real email addresses. Access is through the Console for sign-up and API keys, or through Python and TypeScript SDKs, a CLI, and an MCP server. The Free plan includes 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails a month, while custom domains and larger limits require a paid plan.
What it can do
- Create dedicated inboxes for agents with a single API call.
- Send and receive email programmatically with threads, attachments, and drafts.
- Subscribe to incoming-email events to start an agent run when a message arrives.
- Scope agent access to specific inboxes with per-agent permissions.
- Separate customer inboxes and domains into isolated Pods.
- Retrieve reply content without quoted history via extracted text fields.

Before you choose
- Custom domains and webhook endpoints require a paid plan; the free tier uses the default agentmail.to domain.
- Developer plan includes 10 inboxes and 10,000 emails a month; the Startup plan is $200/month for 150 inboxes.
- AgentMail is an API resource for agents, not a consumer email client; there is no inbox UI for end users in the described product.
