What it does

ASReview is open-source software for AI-assisted screening in systematic reviews and other large text-review projects. Researchers label records as relevant or not, while the software helps organize the screening process. It serves researchers, information specialists and students working through literature collections. The same project provides simulation tools for comparing model performance and checking how an AI-assisted review behaves before relying on it for a study.

ASReview LAB can run locally on macOS, Linux or Windows, or on a self-hosted server accessed through a browser. Docker deployment, a command-line interface and APIs support more technical workflows. Users install the software, open its review interface, upload their records and begin labeling. The software has no license fee. Researchers still need to choose and document their screening method, validate results and decide when to stop; AI prioritization does not replace those research judgments.
