- Tool type
- AI text-to-audio conversion app
- Made for
- Readers, learners, and podcast listeners
- Runs on
- Web, browser extension, podcast apps
- Web app and a Chrome, Edge, or Brave extension; audio plays through a podcast app via your RSS feed.
What it does
Audioread converts web article URLs, uploaded PDFs, EPUBs, DOCX, TXT and other documents, pasted text, forwarded emails, and RSS feeds into AI-voiced audio. You can also upload your own MP3s. Audio plays from a playlist and a podcast RSS feed that can be opened in a podcast app, and transcripts are included in that feed.
People use it to listen to newsletters, blogs, and reading material hands-free. Features include a browser extension that reads pages and ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok replies aloud, labels that create separate podcast feeds, a Daily Briefing of personalized news, a Slack integration for summaries and digests, and Pro options such as AI summaries, educational essays, MP3 downloads, and Privacy Mode.
It fits individual readers and learners who want written content as audio. The Free plan allows 3 articles per month with a 1,000 character limit per article, while Pro includes 1 million characters per month. Converted articles cannot be edited, paywalled pages may fail, and each account supports a single playlist.
