What it does
CAMEL is an open-source framework for constructing AI agents, multi-agent teams and simulated environments. It provides agent roles, model interfaces, tool integrations and memory components for tasks such as synthetic-data generation, research automation and agent-behavior experiments. Developers can assemble a workforce of agents rather than writing every coordination mechanism themselves.
The framework also supports research into agent interaction, evaluation and learning. It is intended for developers and researchers comfortable configuring models, tools and execution environments. CAMEL’s broader research ecosystem includes separate projects and benchmarks; their results do not guarantee a particular application’s reliability. The core framework is Apache 2.0 software, while model APIs, compute and any connected services remain the user’s responsibility.
What it can do
- Agent roles and coordination
- Synthetic-data generation
- Task automation
- World simulation
- Tool integrations
- Agent memory
- Evaluation components
Before you choose
- Model APIs and compute can add costs beyond the free framework.
- Research benchmarks describe specific experimental settings.
