What it does
Cardboard is an AI video editor that turns a text prompt, uploaded footage such as demo videos or b-roll, or both into an editable first cut. It can generate video, images, music, and sound effects, create motion graphics, clone your voice for narration, and source b-roll from the web.
You refine the cut through chat requests or directly on the timeline, then share a link for team feedback or export an MP4 or MOV at up to 4K. The timeline can also be sent to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. The Mac app works with Claude Code and Codex, and any agent can drive Cardboard through its CLI or MCP server. Usage credits and generative credits are separate allowances.
It suits marketers, creators, and teams making product showcases, launch videos, UGC ads, explainers, vlogs, and podcast clips. Editing runs in Chrome or in a Mac app that requires Apple Silicon. Phones and tablets are not supported yet, and Lite exports carry a small watermark.
