Claude Science

What it does

Claude Science is a research workbench that helps move from data and literature to analyses, figures, and manuscripts. It can run Python and R, search scientific sources, and display specialist artifacts such as molecular structures, sequence alignments, and genomic tracks. The aim is to keep the analytical work and the explanation of its results together.

Each artifact can retain the code, environment, and conversation behind it, making it easier to inspect or reproduce a result later. Researchers can ask for changes to a figure, reuse a pipeline as a skill, or connect domain-specific tools. Compute can run locally or through configured remote infrastructure, including SSH-accessible clusters and a researcher’s own Modal account.

The app is in beta and requires a paid Claude plan. Team and Enterprise access is controlled by an administrator. It is particularly developed for life-science workflows, but supports broader research through configurable tools and skills. Its review features can flag problems, while the researcher remains responsible for methods and conclusions; external compute and connected services can add costs beyond the Claude plan.

Get started

Paid Claude plan; admin approval for teams

1. Install on a supported Mac, Windows, or Linux machine with the documented runtime requirements.
2. Sign in to a paid Claude account; obtain organization enablement if needed.
3. Connect the required datasets and compute, then run and review a small analysis.

Science is included in paid Claude plans. External compute such as Modal and optional extra usage are additional costs.
