What it does
Claude Tag, presented as @Claude, brings an AI agent into shared Slack work. Someone mentions it in a channel or thread, describes a task, and it uses the conversation and authorized connections to investigate or produce a result. Progress and replies stay in the thread so teammates can see what was asked and what happened.
Tasks can include summarizing a decision, assembling a project update, investigating an alert, querying approved data, or drafting a code change. Administrators configure tools, credentials, and channel access; tasks run in a temporary sandbox rather than on the person’s computer. Scheduled jobs and channel watching support work that should happen repeatedly or when a trigger occurs.
An organization needs a first-party Claude Team or Enterprise plan and a paired Slack workspace. Channel work is metered against an organization-funded usage balance, with spend limits, rather than requiring every Slack participant to buy a Claude seat. Direct messages can follow different account and billing rules. Microsoft Teams access is still advertised as a waitlist, so Slack is the confirmed place to start.
