What it does
Clio Work takes in legal questions, uploaded documents, and matter context already stored in Clio Manage, then produces cited legal research, document analysis, timelines, and drafted documents. Vincent AI is the assistant inside Clio Work; you can type questions, describe outcomes, or upload files in plain language. Answers draw on the Clio Library of primary law, dockets, and secondary materials, with citations linked to the underlying sources so you can verify them.
People use Clio Work for workflows such as asking jurisdiction-specific research questions, analyzing complaints, contracts, and depositions, building timelines, comparing documents, and drafting in a web-based Legal Pad or document editor. Its distinctive feature is that, when you select a matter, Vincent can read that matter's context from Clio Manage and take actions there, such as updating tasks or creating matters. Vincent can also build single self-contained HTML dashboards for sharing.
Clio Work suits lawyers and legal professionals working in Clio across practice areas. Access is through Clio, and supported capabilities are available in Microsoft Word. Its own documentation states it supports the practice of law rather than replacing professional judgment, so all outputs require final review by a qualified legal professional.

- Clio Manage
- Microsoft Word
Example workflows
- Research a legal question against a matter
- Input: a jurisdiction-specific question with a selected matter. Steps: select the matter so Vincent reads its context, then submit the question. Output: a research answer with cited primary and secondary authorities shown in the Legal Authorities panel, which can be opened in the Legal Pad for drafting.
- Analyze a contract and summarize deviations
- Input: an uploaded agreement, optionally compared against a standard template or prior terms. Steps: choose the Analyze a Contract workflow and request a summary of deviations and risks. Output: extracted key obligations, risks, and clause-level detail that a legal professional reviews before use.
Before you choose
- Outputs must be reviewed and verified by a qualified legal professional; Clio Work is not presented as a replacement for professional judgment.
- Matter context is only used when you have permission to access it in Clio, and customer information is stated not to be used to train third-party AI models.
- Clio Work is part of the Clio ecosystem, so its matter-aware features depend on information stored in Clio Manage.
