What it does
Context.dev is an API that takes a URL, search query, or research question and returns web content. Scrape requests return Markdown, HTML, structured fields, images, or screenshots, and PDFs can be parsed. Search returns ranked web or news results with page content, Research returns structured answers in a caller-defined JSON shape with source URLs, and Monitor watches pages on a schedule and sends webhook updates when content changes.
Developers use it to feed live web content into AI agents and products, or to enrich records with brand data such as logos, colors, fonts, and style guides. Rendering, proxies, and retries run on every request, so users do not select proxy tiers. Access is through an API key, official SDKs for TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, and PHP, an MCP server endpoint, or a command-line tool.
It suits developers and product teams building agent or data-driven applications who are comfortable with API integration. A free tier includes 1,000 credits per month with no card required, and paid plans start at $20 per month. Concurrency is capped by plan, Logo Link has a separate quota, and one-time lookups are not offered, so occasional use requires a subscription or contacting the team.
What it can do
- Scrape any URL or PDF into Markdown, HTML, structured fields, images, or screenshots
- Search the web or news and return ranked results with page content
- Map URLs across a domain, with titles and descriptions when available
- Crawl a site or run batches of thousands of URLs in the background
- Research questions returning structured JSON answers with source URLs
- Monitor pages on a schedule and send changes to a webhook
Before you choose
- Credits are metered per request: a standard scrape costs 1 credit, JSON extraction adds 4, and Brand or Styleguide cost 10 each.
- Core API concurrency is capped per plan (Free allows 2 concurrent requests), and Logo Link has a separate quota that does not consume API credits.
- One-time lookups are not offered; use a subscription or contact [email protected] for one-off projects.
