Earth Index

What it does

Earth Index is a web-based application for environmental defenders and others investigating local environmental trends. Users select known locations on a map and assign positive or negative labels to describe what they are looking for. The application analyzes satellite imagery and identifies other locations with similar patterns, displaying predictions on an interactive map.

The workflow is iterative: review map results, filter or adjust the search, add labels, and rerun the search to refine detections. Earth Index uses large Earth foundation models and all available Sentinel-2 imagery bands; Earth Genome says every region has been indexed for live search. The product page offers account sign-up and login, but does not specify eligibility, pricing, browser support, or technical requirements. Change-detection notifications and cloud training or deployment of detection models are marked as upcoming, not current capabilities.
