Eigen Engineering Agent

What it does

Eigen Engineering Agent is an industrial AI tool that runs inside Siemens TIA Portal. Users enter natural-language prompts or upload documents, and the agent reads the structure of the open project, including function blocks, user-defined data types and HMI screens. Outputs such as PLC code, HMI scripts, drive and hardware configuration, and project documentation can be written back into the TIA Portal project.

Engineers use it for routine automation tasks: generating and testing SCL or LAD code, fixing compile errors, changing properties of many PLC objects at once, configuring drives and PROFINET networks from spreadsheet imports, and translating PLC and HMI texts. Because it works from the objects already in each project, it reduces the manual adaptation that generic AI output usually needs.

It is aimed at automation engineers working in TIA Portal V19, V20 or V21, including engineers less experienced with the software. Using it requires a valid TIA Portal license and an Industry Organization Account, which provides the installation file. Subscriptions and a one-month free trial are purchased through Siemens Digital Exchange (DEX). It only works within TIA Portal, not as a standalone web app.

Legacy PLC logic review

Input: an existing PLC program in a TIA Portal project. Steps: ask the agent to explain the legacy logic and add comments, then generate project documentation. Output: commented logic and a documentation summary.
