What it does
Emergent Mind is a research assistant for staying current with arXiv papers. Its site surfaces trending papers over day, week, month and year windows, shows detailed summaries, and lets you ask questions grounded in the research. Alongside it sit a catalogue of open research problems extracted from papers and a documented REST API.
Researchers and students use it to see which papers are gaining attention online, read summaries, follow related work and linked code, and check whether an unresolved question has already been attempted. Agent skills let coding agents run the same searches, explore open problems and publish findings, while the API returns ranked papers with abstracts, categories and social signals.
It suits researchers, students, engineers and developers who follow ML and math literature or build research agents. Browsing requires a sign-up, and the API key is created from the account dashboard. Citation counts are only populated for some papers, and the API key should be kept secret.
What it can do
- Search arXiv papers by natural-language query with optional start and end dates and result limits
- Return papers with abstracts, authors, categories, and enrichment such as social and GitHub signals
- Browse trending arXiv papers by day, week, month, or year, filtered by category
- Fetch a paper's related papers, open problems, and code through the Get Paper endpoint
- Browse and fetch open research problems and submit or update attributed findings via the API
- Install agent skills that let coding agents search papers and publish findings
Works with
- Agent Skills standard (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other agents supporting it)
Before you choose
- Citation counts are zero for papers whose citations were never fetched, so zero does not mean no citations.
- The shared demo key has its own pooled allowance and returns demo_quota_exceeded when exhausted; a personal key is needed.
- Published findings appear immediately without a review step, so verification is the submitter's responsibility.
