Glean

What it does

Glean connects to a company's work apps and indexes their content. It takes natural-language questions, tasks and agent instructions, and returns cited, permission-aware answers, summaries, drafts, dashboards and multi-step actions. Results respect each source system's existing access permissions, so people only see what they are allowed to see.

People use Search to find documents, messages and tickets across tools, Assistant to research, analyze data, draft content and delegate work, and Agents to build and run automations. The Assistant describes a find, plan, research, iterate and deliver process, with sub-agents working in parallel. Developers can add search, chat and agents to their own software through APIs, SDKs, and MCP hosts. Its distinguishing feature is a company knowledge graph that personalizes results by role.

It suits mid-to-large organizations whose knowledge is spread across many SaaS tools, including IT, engineering, support and operations teams. Access starts with a demo request, and users then sign in to the web app. Public pricing is not shown. Several features, such as multiplayer chat, proactive AI and multi-step workflows, are labelled beta, and some developer APIs are experimental.

Prepare an account brief

Input: a customer name and request. Steps: Assistant searches connected CRM, docs and chats, plans the research, and compiles findings with citations. Output: a cited account summary or draft deck.

Embed company search in an internal app

Input: a Glean API token and server URL. Steps: install a client library, call the Search or Chat API, and render results. Output: permission-aware ranked results or a cited answer inside your own tool.
