What it does

Google Vids is a browser-based video creator and editor built into Google Workspace. It takes in Google Slides presentations, screen recordings, photos and videos from Google Drive or Google Photos, text prompts, and scripts for AI avatars and voiceovers. It produces edited videos with captions and transitions, and you can start from a template, a slide deck, or stock media.

Editing works like a document: revise the text transcript and the video follows. You can also generate clips, avatars, and voiceovers in 24 languages from a prompt, or record your screen and audio directly in Vids. Teams use it for sales pitches, customer education, internal training, and onboarding. Sharing uses the same permission controls as Docs and Sheets, and videos can be exported directly to YouTube, where they default to private.

Vids suits teams, educators, sales staff, and individual creators already working in Google Workspace who want training or presentation videos without editing expertise or a camera. A Google account is required. Creating and editing are desktop-only, while viewing works on desktop and mobile. Each video is limited to 30 minutes. Advanced features and expanded usage limits require a Workspace or Google AI plan.

Example workflows

Turn a slide deck into a narrated pitch
Illustrative example. Import a Google Slides presentation into Vids, add an AI avatar or generated voiceover, and edit the transcript to adjust wording. Add captions and transitions, then share with view or comment permissions. The result is a narrated, captioned video ready to send.
Build a multilingual onboarding video
Illustrative example. Start from a template or record your screen and audio, then add AI avatars and voiceovers in the target language along with captions. Export to YouTube as private for review. The result is a training video localized in one of the supported languages.
