Gradium Read and Transcribe reads webpages aloud free
“We’re releasing a set of free tools powered by Phonon. The first is Gradium Read and Transcribe, a Chrome extension that reads any webpage out loud. It runs on Phonon, our 40M-parameter multilingual model, and handles everyday text. For hard cases like acronyms, phone numbers,”

What it does
Gradium provides voice AI models through an API for speech synthesis, transcription and related voice tasks. Developers can stream text-to-speech output, transcribe incoming audio, choose or clone voices, and configure pronunciation and turn-taking behavior. Its speech recognition includes semantic voice-activity signals to help an agent decide when a speaker has finished.
The service offers Python tooling and regional infrastructure in Europe and the United States. It is useful for building conversational agents where latency, speaker interruptions and voice consistency matter. Plans use credits and differ in commercial rights, voice allowances, retention options and concurrency. Test with realistic audio and conversation patterns before deploying, and distinguish hosted API usage from Phonon, the separately offered on-device model.
