Grok Imagine

What it does

Grok Imagine is xAI's image and video generation API. The video model, grok-imagine-video, accepts text, image and video inputs and produces video. The wider Imagine API covers generation and editing for both images and video, with image output at 1K or 2K resolution and video at 480p, 720p and 1080p.

Developers create an API key in the xAI console and send requests through the REST API, with a web playground for trying prompts first. A video extension API lets you continue an existing clip. Charges apply per generated second of video and also for images or video supplied as input, so costs depend on both what you send and what you generate. The video model has a rate limit of 10 requests per second, with higher limits available on request.

It suits developers and product teams adding image or video generation to their own apps or pipelines. Access is through an API key and the console rather than a standalone editing app. Video pricing varies by resolution, the video extension rate is promotional and may change, and batch pricing is not available for the video model.
