Humata API
Programmatic API for importing documents and asking questions over them
- Tool type
- Document Q&A REST API
- Made for
- Developers and technical teams
- Runs on
- Humata servers via REST API
- Requests are sent to app.humata.ai endpoints.
What it does
The Humata API accepts publicly accessible or signed PDF URLs along with a target folder ID, processing those documents on Humata's servers. Developers can also create conversations and send questions tied to a conversation ID. Answers return as server-sent event streams that include references to the document sections used to produce each response.
Teams use the API to automate document intake and question answering over their Humata library without working in the web app. The main actions are importing a PDF by URL, creating a conversation, and asking grounded questions with streamed answers. Developers choose a model and an answer approach of Grounded, Balanced, or Creative for each question.
The API suits developers or technical teams who already use Humata and want programmatic access. Setup requires a Humata account, with an admin creating a Developer Settings API key and copying document IDs from the dashboard. Endpoints are rate limited and return 429 responses when limits are exceeded, and reference formatting may change over time.
