What it does
LiveAvatar, from HeyGen, is an API for putting a talking video avatar into an app or web page. In FULL mode it takes the user's speech, handles speech recognition, a language model and text-to-speech, and streams back a synchronized 1080p avatar. In Avatar Only (LITE) mode you supply your own conversational stack and it handles the real-time video streaming.
Developers start by getting an API key, then call the embeddings endpoint to receive a short-lived iframe URL they can drop into a page. For more control, they can bring an OpenAI-compatible LLM, use voice providers such as ElevenLabs, Fish Audio or Cartesia, switch between conversational and Push-to-Talk modes, or build their own interface with the Web SDK over LiveKit or Agora. Its pitch is unlimited concurrent sessions at no extra charge, plus a Sandbox Mode that uses no credits.
It suits developers building sales assistants, support or training agents, tutors and interactive hosts. Access requires an account and API key at app.liveavatar.com, and usage is billed per minute in credits. It is an API and SDK, not a standalone consumer app. Full pricing tiers are not confirmed, and quality and latency figures are the vendor's own claims.
