- Tool type
- Portable local AI model runtime
- Made for
- Developers and people running models locally
- Runs on
- Windows, macOS, Linux and other supported local systems
What it does
llamafile packages a language model and its inference runtime into a portable executable. Users can download a prepared file or build their own, then run the model locally without setting up a separate model-serving stack.
It supports multiple desktop operating systems and GGUF models, making it useful for local experimentation and private AI deployments. The project also includes related audio-transcription packaging. Hardware capacity, operating-system constraints and the selected model’s license still apply, and feature support can differ between runtime versions.
What it can do
- Portable model packaging
- Local inference
- GGUF model support
- Offline execution
