What it does

NVIDIA NeMo is a collection of modular open libraries and agent skills for building and improving specialized AI agents. It takes in existing or synthetic datasets, model choices, agent traces, and evaluation scenarios. It produces curated training data, fine-tuned or RL-trained models, evaluation results, guardrailed agents, and observable run records. Its components cover data preparation, model selection and training, deployment, guardrails, vulnerability scanning, and agent optimization.

Teams use NeMo as separate tools across the agent lifecycle rather than as one application. NeMo Curator and NeMo Data Designer handle data, NeMo Evaluator handles benchmarking, NeMo Guardrails adds safety controls, and NeMo Fabric runs agents across harnesses through one typed configuration and lifecycle. Models can be deployed as OpenAI-compatible APIs in optimized containers. NeMo works with existing AI tools and agent frameworks and runs across cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments.

NeMo suits developers and ML teams building enterprise or domain-specific agents who are comfortable with Python libraries, containers, and command-line tooling. It is available as open-source libraries through GitHub and documentation. Enterprise deployment support comes through NVIDIA AI Enterprise; request a quote from NVIDIA for support terms. Each component has its own setup requirements, so choose the tools that match your workload.

What it can do

  • Prepare and anonymize multimodal datasets, including synthetic data generation
  • Select, evaluate, and fine-tune models including Nemotron and other open options
  • Run reinforcement learning training environments and post-training workflows
  • Deploy models as OpenAI-compatible APIs in optimized containers
  • Apply guardrails for safety, compliance, and content moderation
  • Scan LLMs and agents for vulnerabilities before production

Works with

  • Integrates with existing AI tools and agent frameworks (as described on the page; specific named integrations not enumerated)

Example workflows

Build a domain-specific agent dataset
Input: existing documents or sensitive records. Steps: anonymize with NeMo Anonymizer, curate with NeMo Curator, and generate synthetic examples with NeMo Data Designer. Output: prepared, AI-ready datasets for training or evaluation.
Evaluate and govern an agent before deployment
Input: a candidate model and agent configuration. Steps: run benchmarks with NeMo Evaluator, add guardrails with NeMo Guardrails, and scan with garak. Output: evaluation results and a vulnerability report to inform release decisions.

Before you choose

  • Components are separate libraries with their own setup, so plan which ones your workflow needs.
  • Enterprise support, security, and API stability are provided through NVIDIA AI Enterprise; request a quote for terms.
  • Plan for your own hardware and model-hosting costs when running training, evaluation, or deployment.
