- Tool type
- Agent-facing API discovery and integration service
- Made for
- AI agents and developers building them
- Runs on
- Coding agents via MCP; custom agents via REST
- MCP server works in coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor; REST API is called from custom agents.
What it does
Orbit by Postman takes a plain-English task description from an AI agent or developer and returns public APIs that could accomplish it. For each API it finds, Orbit provides an evaluation and generates instructions an agent can use to call the endpoints. The input is a task description; the output is API candidates, evaluations, and integration guidance.
People use Orbit in two main ways. Coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor can connect to the Orbit MCP Server, which exposes search and integrate as agent tools, set up with a single command. Developers building their own agents can call the REST API directly through POST /v1/search and POST /v1/integrate. What distinguishes it is that it works only with publicly available APIs, so agents can discover and integrate endpoints without relying on private services.
Orbit suits developers and teams building or running AI agents that need to find third-party public APIs quickly. The docs state no sign-up, API key, or account is needed to call the API. Limitations: it only covers publicly available APIs, and the provider’s documentation do not describe rate limits, pricing, or a non-developer interface.
What it can do
- Turns a plain-English task description into relevant public API calls
- Searches public APIs for an agent's goal
- Evaluates each discovered API
- Generates integration instructions for an AI agent
- Exposes search and integrate as MCP agent tools
- Provides REST endpoints POST /v1/search and POST /v1/integrate
Before you choose
- Orbit works only with publicly available APIs; private services are not covered.
- Pricing, rate limits, and quotas are not stated in the provider’s documentation.
- Access is designed for agents and developers rather than a general end-user app.
