What it does

Pika takes text prompts, reference images and existing clips and produces new video, images and audio. Its tools are separate apps: Video Studio makes clips up to 30 seconds with multiple shots, Extend Video adds frames to a clip, Color Grade adjusts look and mood, Pika Soundtrack scores a clip with music, ambience and foley, Edit Image swaps, removes or restyles elements, Character Studio saves a reusable character, and Product Shot makes styled product images without a photoshoot.

People use it to make social content, ads, short films and product visuals, picking the narrow tool that fits the task rather than one all-in-one editor. A pricing estimator maps planned videos and images to a monthly credit budget. Pika also runs third-party generation models alongside its own, and offers an extension inside ChatGPT, an MCP endpoint, and a separate developer API membership.

It suits ad creatives, editors, marketers and filmmakers. You need an account; the Free plan has no monthly credits (credit packs only) and no commercial license. Paid plans use monthly credits that do not roll over, and costs vary widely by model. The commercial license starts at Starter. Top-up credits cannot be used with the API or iOS app.
