Build and deploy voice dialog agents from natural-language descriptions or code.

- Tool type
- Voice and dialog agent builder
- Made for
- Customer-engagement teams and developers
- Runs on
- Web studio, CLI and Python ADK
- Agents are built in the Agent Studio web interface or locally via the ADK CLI, and deployed to phone and messaging channels.
What it does
PolyAI's Agent Builder takes a plain-language description of a customer use case and produces a voice dialog agent with a knowledge base, conversation tracks and guardrails, which can then be tested live, refined and deployed. Developers can instead use the Agent Development Kit, a CLI and Python package that connects to a GitHub repository so agent changes are versioned, reviewed and pushed like application code. Output is a working voice or multichannel agent handling calls, and the ADK supports runtime hooks that pass third-party data, such as caller history, into the conversation.
Teams can describe a use case, test the agent in a shareable environment, then use call data to refine it before production. Developers can edit flows and functions locally, connect backend APIs and use automated tests in a code-review workflow. The Agent Builder and ADK are two ways into the same dialog platform. Model choice and integrations depend on the deployment, with business users and engineers able to work on a shared agent configuration.
PolyAI Agent Builder suits customer-engagement teams and developers building voice or multichannel agents. Access begins through the web studio or a discussion with sales, followed by testing and configuration for the intended systems and channels. Platform use is quoted and metered by connected time. PolyAI’s separately priced model API is a different purchase, so its introductory credits and minute rate should not be used to estimate the cost of a complete Agent Builder deployment.
What it can do
- Natural-language agent creation that configures the agent, knowledge base, conversation tracks and guardrails.
- Live testing and analysis of call data with iterative refinement.
- Agent Development Kit (ADK) CLI and Python package for local, IDE-based development with Git versioning.
- Shareable zero-setup test environment across channels.
- Dialog-RSN-1 model access via API, billed per connected minute.
- Custom functions that call backend APIs during calls, and automated test suites runnable in CI/CD.

Example workflows
- Build a voice agent from a description
- Illustrative example. Input: a plain-language description of the customer use case. Steps: the builder describes the need, the platform configures the agent, knowledge base and tracks, the builder tests live and reviews call data, then refines. Output: a tested dialog agent ready for deployment.
- Develop an agent from an IDE
- Illustrative example. Input: agent flows, functions and voice configuration in a local GitHub repository. Steps: edit locally with an IDE and AI assistant, run the test suite from the CLI, push via poly push in CI. Output: versioned agent changes visible in Agent Studio for review and staging.
Before you choose
- Confirm the platform quote and included channels, telephony and support.
- Model-only API pricing and promotional credits do not establish the complete platform cost.
