What it does

Neo takes plain-English requests about cloud infrastructure and turns them into actions against your Pulumi-managed resources. It can generate Pulumi programs in TypeScript, Python, Go and other languages, execute changes, monitor outcomes, investigate failed deployments, scan for misconfigurations and policy violations, and surface underused or expensive resources with cost recommendations. Actions can be governed through previews, logs, and configured approval controls.

People use Neo from the Pulumi Cloud web experience and from inside VS Code, Cursor, Claude Code, and Windsurf through an MCP server, so it fits into existing coding workflows. Its distinguishing feature is governance: autonomy levels and human-in-the-loop approvals are configurable per action, and Neo respects RBAC and organization policies. Neo uses token-based metering at $3 per million tokens.

Neo suits infrastructure and platform engineering teams using Pulumi’s code-first platform. Start with a Pulumi account and confirm the paid edition and token entitlement needed for Neo; the Free edition’s pricing table excludes it. Enterprise adds bring-your-own-key support for supported models. Configure approval levels before enabling infrastructure changes, and account for metered Neo usage when budgeting.
