What it does

Quilter is an AI-assisted PCB layout tool for PCB designers, electrical engineers, and hardware teams. Users prepare a design in their ECAD tool, upload its design files, schematic, board outline, fixed components, and relevant constraints, then Quilter generates placement-and-routing candidates. The engineer reviews candidates, adjusts the design, and can resubmit for further iterations. Results can be downloaded as ECAD board files for review and onward design work.

The product runs in a managed cloud workspace or can be deployed in a customer’s cloud environment. Its output includes candidate layouts and physics-check results for human review; the product page describes an iteration loop rather than a substitute for engineering sign-off. Published capability boundaries include best performance around 2,000–5,000 pins to route and under 20% pin density. Through-hole vias are listed as live; blind and buried vias are in development, automated BGA fanout generation is beta, and length matching and RF handling are in development. Pricing is per project, based on unrouted pin count, with no public numeric rate on the pricing page.

What it can do

  • Automated PCB component placement and trace routing
  • Generates and ranks multiple layout candidates
  • Allows iteration on placement, stack-up, floor plan, and design adjustments
  • Displays physics checks for candidate layouts
  • Supports design constraints such as stackups, fixed components, and routed traces
  • Downloads resulting board files for use in ECAD tools

Works with

  • Altium
  • Cadence Allegro
  • Siemens Xpedition
  • KiCad
  • Kubernetes
  • Helm
  • AWS
  • Existing identity provider

Before you choose

  • A project is defined by its board outline, BOM and pin count at upload; BOM changes greater than 10% constitute a new project. Pricing is based on unrouted pins; request a quote.
  • The published capability table identifies important limits and maturity distinctions: best performance is around 2,000–5,000 unrouted pins, under 20% pin density, and through-hole vias; other features are beta or in development.
  • Self-hosted operation requires a Kubernetes environment and NVIDIA GPU resources for design jobs; the customer cluster handles scheduling and scaling.

Get started

The website directs prospective users to request a conversation with an engineer.

  1. Request a product conversation through “Talk to an Engineer” to discuss access and deployment.
  2. Prepare the schematic, board outline, fixed components, and other design files in an ECAD workflow.
  3. Upload the design, set design and physics constraints, submit a layout job, then review and download candidates.

Plans and prices

Pricing is project-based, not per seat. The pricing page says projects are charged according to unrouted pin count; no numeric amount or currency is supplied. Self-hosted pricing is higher and may include additional fees. The about page mentions a free tier, but vendor documentation does not establish current free-tier eligibility or terms. A project is defined by its board outline, BOM and pin count at upload; BOM changes greater than 10% constitute a new project.

Cloud / project-basedUsage-basedRate not published in vendor documentation; contact sales for pricing.
  • Managed cloud on AWS
  • Secure workspace isolated from other users
  • Iterations within the same defined project; a BOM change above 10% starts a new project
  • Parallel jobs and guided onboarding on the first board
Self-hosted / project-basedUsage-basedRate not published; page describes higher cost and says additional fees might apply. Customer supplies Kubernetes infrastructure and NVIDIA GPU resources.
  • Deployed in customer cloud environment
  • Kubernetes-native application delivered through Helm chart
  • Customer controls access, networking, and data residency
