What it does

Rasa Platform is a toolkit for building AI agents that handle customer conversations over chat or voice, producing responses, actions, and logs. Teams write skills as markdown files or describe what they need in Studio, attach tools such as APIs, MCP servers, and Python scripts, and deploy the agent on infrastructure they run. Every conversation turn is recorded as a structured event log.

Rasa suits teams that split agent work by domain, where each team maintains its own skills and other agents reuse them under central review, permissions, and testing. Mantle, the orchestrator, moves between skills and lets a builder start with natural-language instructions, then add deterministic guarantees such as required values or confirmation steps one at a time. Testing includes simulations and evaluations, and a release pipeline compares a new version against the current one before it goes live.

Rasa is aimed at engineering-led AI product teams and regulated organizations that need on-premise or private-cloud deployment. The Free Developer Edition provides a free license for local or production use, limited to one bot per company and up to 1000 external or 100 internal conversations per month, with community forum support. Enterprise access requires contacting sales, and the IVR connector is a separate purchase. Self-managed deployments mean your team operates the infrastructure, with Kubernetes support available for scaling.

What it can do

  • Write reusable skills in markdown or describe needs in Studio, then tune tools, personality, voice, and guardrails
  • Run automated simulations and evaluations of agent behavior with scores and suggested fixes
  • Compare a new agent version against the current release through an end-to-end release pipeline before going live
  • Connect APIs, MCP servers, and Python scripts as agent tools
  • Store customer choices and details as agent memory
  • Log every conversation turn as a structured event

Works with

  • Twilio
  • Slack
  • Okta
  • ServiceNow
  • AudioCodes VoiceAI Connect (additional purchase)

Example workflows

Order support agent
Input: a customer asks about a package or refund. Steps: the agent pulls order history, tracks the package, issues a refund through an attached tool, and hands off unresolved cases to a person. Output: a resolved refund or a handoff to a human agent.
IT access request
Input: an employee requests a password or access reset. Steps: the agent checks the request against role permissions, resets access if allowed, and opens a ticket when it cannot. Output: a reset confirmation or a ticket posted back to the thread.

Before you choose

  • Self-managed deployment means your team operates the infrastructure; the free developer license caps usage at one bot per company.
  • The IVR connector to AudioCodes VoiceAI Connect is a paid add-on, and voice speech depends on third-party providers you choose, such as Deepgram, Azure, Cartesia, or Rime.

Get started

Enterprise access starts with a demo or a conversation with sales; the free developer license is available from the pricing page.

  1. Install Mantle and build a first agent with the Rasa Copilot, following the Getting Started guide in the docs.
  2. Write a skill as a skill.md file with a name and description, then add tools, memory, or references to the same folder as needed.
  3. Choose a deployment mode, self-managed on-premise or private cloud, or the managed service, and deploy on Kubernetes if scaling is required.
