What it does

Ravelin is a fraud-prevention platform for online merchants and payment service providers. It combines merchant-specific machine-learning models with behavioral analysis, graph connections, consortium signals and rules to assess customer and transaction risk. Fraud teams use these signals to distinguish suspicious activity from legitimate purchases and review related accounts. The platform covers payment fraud, account takeover and several forms of policy abuse; the selected implementation determines which capabilities are enabled.

Integration uses APIs for transaction, customer and activity data, with different guides for merchants and payment service providers. Start with a demo to define the business problem, available data and acceptable risk, then agree the integration and decision rules with the provider. Additional authentication and payment-optimization services have their own implementation requirements. Human teams remain responsible for policies, exceptions and customer impacts. Model predictions and linked identities are signals to evaluate, not proof that a customer committed fraud; data quality and changing behavior can affect decisions.

What it can do

  • Score transaction and customer risk with machine learning
  • Analyze relationships between accounts with graph networks
  • Evaluate payment fraud and account-takeover signals
  • Configure rules around merchant risk policies
  • Combine behavioral and consortium signals
  • Integrate merchant or payment-provider workflows through APIs

Before you choose

  • Confirm the modules, deployment, data requirements and charges included in the agreement.
  • Review false positives and changes in customer behavior; risk scores are not proof of fraud.
  • Authentication and transaction optimization can require separate integration scope.
