What it does
Rovo is Atlassian's AI layer for teamwork. It takes in work and knowledge from Jira, Confluence and connected third-party apps, linked through what Atlassian calls the Teamwork Graph. From a prompt, it returns answers, drafts, summaries and context about people, projects and code, and agents can carry out follow-on steps such as updating work items.
People use Rovo Search and Chat inside Jira and Confluence, at chat.rovo.com, on desktop and mobile, in a Chrome browser extension, through MCP, and from the command line with Rovo Dev. Example uses include updating specs and tasks from a meeting, turning ideas into work items, and routing backlog items to agents. Its distinguishing feature is context drawn from the connected Atlassian work graph, with admin controls over what AI can access.
It suits teams already on a paid Atlassian Cloud plan; no separate purchase is needed. Usage is metered in credits, and extra credits cost money once the monthly allowance runs out. Full AI features need a Cloud plan; Data Center customers get connectors only. Admins can turn AI off, leaving Search and Studio working.
