What it does
Segmind is a hosted API platform for generating images, video, audio and text. Developers send a text prompt, reference images or source media to a model through a Python SDK or REST endpoint, and receive generated media or text back. Its library includes more than 550 models from providers such as ByteDance, Google, Black Forest Labs, Kling, MiniMax and OpenAI, all reachable with one API key and one bill.
Teams use it to call models from their own code, or to chain several models into a Pixelflow workflow, for example generating a still image and then animating it into video. The model library is organised by task, such as text to image, image to video and text to speech, which makes comparing options practical. Pay-as-you-go credits let teams test models before committing to a subscription plan.
Segmind suits developers and production teams building media generation into products or pipelines. Access requires an account and API key. Plan rate limits (60 to 1000 requests per minute) and storage vary by tier, and per-model usage is billed from credits, so check the model price explorer before estimating costs.
What it can do
- Call 550+ image, video, audio and language models through one API key
- Generate images from text, edit images with reference inputs, and remove backgrounds
- Generate video from text, images or reference clips, and extend or edit existing video
- Create speech and voice clones, plus music and sound effects
- Chain models into Pixelflow workflows that run multi-step generation
- Use the Python SDK (pip install segmind) to run models from code
Example workflows
- Image then video
- Input: a product photo and a text prompt. Steps: generate or edit the still with an image model, then pass the output into an image-to-video model. Output: a short product animation.
- Voiced narration clip
- Input: a script and a portrait photo. Steps: generate speech with a text-to-speech model, then send the audio and portrait to a talking-head model. Output: a lip-synced talking video.
Before you choose
- Per-model pricing varies by model and is shown in the Model Price Explorer; check it before estimating cost.
- Rate limits (RPM) and storage depend on plan; Pixelflow availability differs across tiers.
- Dedicated GPU endpoints and fine-tuning are billed by GPU time, separate from per-call credits.
