Sourcegraph
Code search, AI-assisted codebase Q&A, and large-scale code changes for enterprise teams
Linked from sourcegraph.com · checked 29 Oct
- Tool type
- Enterprise code search and AI codebase context platform
- Made for
- Enterprise engineering teams
- Runs on
- Web, API, CLI, and MCP server; self-hosted or single-tenant cloud
- The web interface is used for search and review; the MCP server, APIs, and CLI give agents and tools access.
What it does
Sourcegraph takes in source code from repositories and code hosts and returns search results, navigation to definitions and references, citation-backed answers to natural-language questions, and reviewable batch code changes. Code Search runs exact, deterministic queries across branches and hosts, while Deep Search answers questions with citations drawn from the codebase.
Teams use it to find answers in large codebases, trace dependencies, and review large diffs. Diff Tour groups related files in a large change into a guided reading path. Agentic Batch Changes lets AI agents make, review, and ship changes across many repositories, and the MCP server, GraphQL and REST APIs, and CLI let tools such as Claude Code and Cursor query codebase context.
The product is aimed at enterprise engineering teams working in large monorepos or multi-repo architectures. Access starts with a sales conversation, and the enterprise plan has a minimum annual contract with AI credits that scale with team size. Enterprise deployments include SSO, SCIM provisioning, RBAC, and self-hosted or single-tenant cloud options.
What it can do
- Exact, deterministic code search across repositories, branches, and code hosts
- Natural-language Deep Search returning citation-backed answers about the codebase
- Diff Tour guided reading path for large diffs
- Agentic Batch Changes for making and shipping changes across many repositories
- Code insights and code monitoring
- Symbol search and code navigation to definitions and references
Works with
- Claude Code
- Cursor
- Codex
- Amp
- All major code hosts
Example workflows
- Investigating a cross-repo dependency
- Input: a natural-language question about how a service depends on a shared library. Steps: run Deep Search, review the cited answer, then jump to definitions and references with code navigation. Output: an explanation with links to the relevant code locations.
- Reviewing a large change
- Input: a large diff across many files. Steps: open Diff Tour to group related files and follow its guided reading path. Output: a walkthrough organized by the change's intent rather than the file list.
Before you choose
- The enterprise plan has a minimum annual contract and scales with team size, so it is oriented to enterprise budgets.
- AI features draw on credits; credit consumption rates and overage terms are described on the pricing page's credit FAQ.
- Confirm supported languages and code hosts for your environment before purchase.
