What it does
Spline MCP is a remote server that lets an MCP-compatible AI agent, such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, read and change a Spline 3D or design file. You give the agent a prompt describing a scene, a product hero, an interactive element, or a Hana design. The agent calls Spline tools to read the scene, write changes, frame a view, and check the result. The output is changes made directly in a live Spline file that you can watch, edit, or take over.
People use it to get a first version of an interactive 3D scene quickly, then refine it by hand in the same file. Spline states each call runs in the editor for that chat, not another conversation's file, and access uses OAuth sign-in tied to your own account so you can revoke it. The desktop app can instead run the server locally bound to 127.0.0.1.
It suits designers, developers, and teams building 3D for websites or apps who already use an MCP-capable agent. Connecting requires a Spline account and a paid or free plan with MCP tool-call limits (20 per day on Free, up to 400 per day on Max). It needs an agent that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth, and Spline's own pages note tools may only load after restarting the agent.
What it can do
- Read and edit objects, materials, lighting, and states in an open Spline scene via agent prompts
- Frame a view and inspect the result so the agent can review its own changes
- Generate scene content such as 3D models and textures with AI credits
- Work from briefs like product heroes, interactive states, and physics game levels
- Hand off agent-built scenes to designers for manual refinement in the same file
- Publish results to web, iOS (SwiftUI or Xcode project), and Android (Compose, APK, or App Bundle)

Before you choose
- Each agent sign-in is tied to your account; revoking the grant stops its tokens working immediately
- Daily MCP tool-call limits vary by plan (20 Free, 100 Hobby, 200 Pro, 400 Max); Enterprise is custom
- Some agents only load MCP servers at startup, so restart the agent if tools don't appear
