What it does
The SurrealDB MCP Server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at mcp.surrealdb.com. AI clients such as Claude and Cursor connect to it with one URL and sign in with a Surreal ID, or use a personal access token for unattended clients. Through natural-language requests, the assistant can deploy and manage Cloud instances, write and run SurrealQL, check instance status, metrics and logs, manage team members, and estimate instance cost.
The server acts with the signed-in user's own permissions and role, and it asks before irreversible actions. Management, querying and observability share one connection, so an assistant can inspect an instance and run a query in the same conversation. A separate Agent Memory MCP server exposes seven tools (remember, recall, context, reflect, forget, upload, inspect), and an embedded MCP server covers self-hosted and local databases.
It suits developers and teams already running SurrealDB Cloud who want an AI assistant to manage instances and query data. Access requires a SurrealDB account and an MCP-capable client. Cloud pricing is usage-based on instance compute and storage, while self-hosted Enterprise deployments are priced on request.

- Deploy, resize, pause and upgrade SurrealDB Cloud instances from an AI assistant
- Write and run SurrealQL queries against your data in plain language
- Check instance status, metrics and logs alongside queries
- Invite team members, change roles and withdraw invitations in an organisation
- Check usage and invoices and estimate instance cost before creating an instance
- Manage Agent Memory contexts and store or recall memories through a separate seven-tool MCP server
Works with
- Claude
- Cursor
- VS Code
Before you choose
- Actions run with your own role and permissions, and the assistant asks before irreversible changes.
- Compute and storage are billed separately under the Cloud plans; verify current rates on the pricing page.
- Agent Memory uses its own MCP endpoint and API key, separate from the hosted Cloud server.
