- Tool type
- TypeScript agent base class
- Made for
- Developers building production agents
- Runs on
- Telnyx Edge Compute
- Deployed as code on Telnyx points of presence; the SDK is a development dependency.
What it does
AgentSDK is a TypeScript base class, shipped inside @telnyx/edge-runtime, that extends StatefulActor with three primitives: persistent message history, durable scheduled tasks, and merge-patch state. You write an agent by subclassing Agent and handling events such as onMessage. Platform bindings expose Telnyx inference, voice, SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, KV, and storage through this.env, with no credentials handled in agent code.
Developers use it to build agents that remember context across sessions, schedule follow-ups that survive restarts and deploys, and reply through real phone or messaging channels. The model, telephony layer, and state store sit on one Telnyx platform, under one API key and one bill, so there is less integration work between separate vendors.
It suits developers building customer-facing or messaging agents who are comfortable with TypeScript and deploying to Telnyx Edge Compute. Access requires a Telnyx account and API key, and the SDK is a code dependency rather than an end-user app. Pricing for the SDK itself is not stated on its page, so confirm cost before committing.
What it can do
- Persistent message history stored in a structured table, queryable by role and time
- Durable scheduled tasks that survive restarts and deploys
- Merge-patch state on a single KV key, where concurrent updates merge rather than overwrite
- Inference through the telnyx binding, OpenAI-compatible and running on Telnyx GPUs in the same facility
- Voice and messaging bindings for phone calls, SMS, MMS, and WhatsApp
- KV and Cloud Storage access through platform bindings without credentials
Works with
- Telnyx Inference API
- Telnyx Voice API
- Telnyx Messaging (SMS, MMS, WhatsApp)
- Telnyx KV and Object Storage
Before you choose
- Pricing for AgentSDK is not published on its page; confirm costs for inference, voice, and messaging under the respective Telnyx product pricing.
- Bindings give credential-free access only inside the Telnyx runtime; the SDK is not a standalone library for other clouds.
- Confirm which agent frameworks are supported and the current release status with Telnyx before building on it.

Get started
Create an account and API key, then build with the developer docs.
- Create a Telnyx account and generate an API key from the Telnyx portal.
- Install @telnyx/edge-runtime and subclass Agent, implementing onMessage for your logic.
- Validate authentication with a read-only request such as GET /v2/balance, then deploy the agent to Edge Compute.
Plans and prices
