What it does
TrueMedia is a public-interest media-analysis platform hosted by Georgetown University. Users submit content for authenticity and veracity checks. The platform currently lists image, audio, and text detection; video is marked as planned for January 2027, and multimodal detection for spring 2027. Its stated audience includes the public, journalists, researchers, and public institutions.
For authenticity analysis, separate detectors examine media-specific signals and their results are combined into an overall assessment. The platform may return “Uncertain” when evidence is weak or detectors disagree. Human reviewers also assess submitted content; the FAQ describes independent research for authenticity checks and separate claim review for veracity checks. The organization says it tests detectors against benchmarks and examples from the platform and updates AI-generation detectors monthly.
The platform is in beta and open by invitation; join the waitlist to request access. Confirm commercial terms and content-handling requirements. Detector outputs can be wrong or uncertain; use the supporting evidence and human review when assessing a claim.
