What it does

Upfirst AI Receptionist is a hosted phone-answering service for small businesses and teams that need coverage for customer and lead calls. Businesses can enter their website as a starting point for receptionist training, then configure its greeting, business information and call-handling instructions. Callers speak by phone; the receptionist can collect and qualify lead details, send call summaries by text or email, and provide call transcripts and recordings for review.

The receptionist can book available appointments in connected calendars, send texts during calls, and transfer selected calls to a person with caller context. Businesses can keep their existing number and forward all calls, missed calls or after-hours calls to an Upfirst number. The service supports automatic language switching across 35+ languages and spam blocking. It is managed through Upfirst’s web account; the company also offers an MCP server for managing settings and reviewing calls from compatible assistants. Upfirst says it has no public API yet. A 14-day trial offers access to the selected plan; ongoing plans include call allowances and per-additional-call charges.
