Zep AI
Governed context layer for agents built from business data, documents, and conversations
- Tool type
- Context layer for agents
- Made for
- Developers and enterprise teams
- Runs on
- Zep Cloud or customer VPC
- Accessed through Zep's API and web console; deployable as managed cloud or inside a customer VPC on Enterprise.
What it does
Zep takes in business data, documents, and conversation records, then builds dated Context Graphs for each user, customer, account, or domain. Each record keeps a link to its source, and facts are updated as the underlying data changes. When an agent needs information for a task, Zep retrieves the relevant context in one call, filtered by policy.
Teams use Zep to give agents shared, governed context instead of pulling whole records from each system through tool calls. The service offers attribute-based access control, retention policies with legal hold, and audit and API logs that record requests and access decisions.
Zep suits teams building production agents, such as enterprise account, renewal, and support workflows. Self-serve plans are credit based and start with an account sign-up. Enterprise adds deployment options (managed cloud, cloud with customer encryption keys, or a customer VPC), and SOC 2 Type II certification is stated, with HIPAA BAAs available on the Enterprise plan.
