- Tool type
- Governed MCP layer over Tray connectors
- Made for
- IT, security and automation teams
- Runs on
- Tray.ai cloud and on-premise connectors (Enterprise)
- Runs on Tray's managed platform; regional hosting and on-premise connectors are listed for Enterprise plans. Agents call the tools from their own client.
What it does
Agent Gateway for MCP takes the connectors in the Tray.ai library and publishes them as governed Model Context Protocol tools that agents can call from clients such as Claude, OpenAI, Copilot Studio or a custom framework. Teams connect the systems they already use, such as Salesforce, Jira, Okta or ServiceNow, and can also package multi-step workflows as composite tools. The result is a set of MCP tools whose calls are tied to a named user, optionally run on that user's own credentials, scoped to the tool's purpose and recorded in an audit log.
Teams use it to replace a separate MCP server for each system with one governed layer. IT approves what gets published, sets access by team or workspace, versions and retires servers, and reviews calls in one view. A composite tool does a multi-step job in a single call, which the vendor says can lower token costs by up to 10 times. Dynamic authentication lets OAuth prompts happen within a composite tool rather than being wired in advance.
It suits enterprise IT, security and automation teams that need to govern how agents reach company systems. Access requires a Tray.ai account. Regional hosting, on-premise connectors, SSO and HIPAA are Enterprise features, or add-ons on Team. Cost is usage-based, so the free trial is the way to measure it, and the add-on price for Agent Gateway for MCP should be confirmed with Tray.ai.
