- Tool type
- Browser agents and cloud browser infrastructure
- Made for
- Developers and teams automating web tasks
- Runs on
- Cloud API, SDKs and local open-source library
- Cloud browsers and agents run on Browser Use infrastructure; the open-source library runs locally.
What it does
Browser Use takes a natural-language task, such as finding a story or pulling data from a site, and returns a result after an agent drives a browser to complete it. It also provides cloud browser sessions that your own Playwright or Puppeteer code can connect to over CDP. Cloud browsers are billed by the minute, with residential proxy traffic billed separately.
People use it for logins, forms, shopping, data extraction and travel booking on sites that block standard headless browsers. The company says its cloud browser gets past bot checks, reporting 90.5% success versus 3.0% for headless Chrome across 200 visits to 100 bot-protected sites in its own test. An open-source MIT-licensed library is also available for running agents locally.
It suits developers and teams building browser automation or agent workflows who are comfortable with API keys and SDKs. Access requires an account and API key, and usage is metered with credits that do not expire. Browser sessions and proxy traffic are billed separately from model tokens, and the benchmark figures come from the vendor's own tests.
What it can do
- Runs natural-language browser tasks through the Browser Use Agents service
- Launches cloud browsers that can be controlled over CDP by Playwright or Puppeteer
- Routes browser traffic through residential or direct proxies
- Offers model access through an API with cached and standard token pricing
- Provides an MIT-licensed open-source library for local browser agents
- Supports concurrent sessions that scale with total paid amount
Works with
- Playwright
- Puppeteer
- Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP)
- Claude Code, Codex and Cursor (via the separate open-source Browser Harness)
Example workflows
- Run a natural-language web task
- Input: a task such as 'Find the top Hacker News story'. Steps: create a run through the Python or TypeScript SDK, then wait for completion. Output: the result text returned by the run.
- Drive a cloud browser with your own code
- Input: an API key and a Playwright script. Steps: start a cloud browser via the API, connect Playwright over CDP, perform actions, then stop the session. Output: whatever data or page state your script collects, with session time billed per minute.
Before you choose
- Browser sessions are billed by the minute (rounded up, 1-minute minimum), and residential proxy traffic costs $5/GB by default, so costs depend on session length and traffic routing.
- Model usage is priced as provider rate plus 20%, and cached rates apply, so token-heavy tasks can cost more than the browser time alone.
- Performance figures and bot-bypass rates are vendor-reported and based on the company's own benchmarks and tests.
