- Tool type
- AI agent browser
- Made for
- Professionals and developers automating browser work
- Runs on
- macOS, Windows and Linux
What it does
BrowserOS is a Chromium-based browser with AI agents that can navigate websites, click controls and enter text in response to a task. You use it as a browser while choosing the model connection that powers the assistant. Its open-source code and support for your own model keys make it an option for people who want control over their browser automation setup.
The original BrowserOS application runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It is separate from BrowserOS neo, which gives external agents a browser to control through MCP. Both are free software, but model-provider usage can have its own costs. Start with a limited task and review actions that use logged-in accounts. Local browser storage does not make an external model request local; the chosen model connection determines where those requests are processed.
What it can do
- Natural-language browser tasks
- Page navigation and interaction
- Bring-your-own model connection
- Local browser sessions
- Open-source deployment
Before you choose
- BrowserOS and BrowserOS neo are separate applications.
- External model use can incur provider charges and send context to that provider.
