What it does

ChatGPT takes in typed prompts, uploaded files and images, and voice input, and produces text answers, image creations, data analysis, and voice replies. Free users can search the web, upload images or files, discover and use GPTs, create images, and use Library with 500 MB of storage.

People use it for conversational help, analysis of their own files, and image creation, and can continue using existing GPTs. Plus adds higher rate limits, priority access during busy periods, faster responses, and broader model and reasoning options, with the model picker showing what the account can use. Eligible Plus subscribers can also authorize some participating tools to draw on their allowance through Sign in with ChatGPT.

Suited to individuals who want a general assistant, with a free tier and a monthly paid plan. Access requires a ChatGPT account on the web or supported apps. Plus is billed monthly only, with no annual option. Free usage has rate limits on files, images, voice and data analysis, and limits can change over time. New GPT creation is not available on personal accounts.

Create an image from a prompt

Input: a text description of the desired image. Steps: request image creation in a chat. Output: a generated image. Free image creation has a usage limit that ChatGPT notifies you about when reached.

• Plus is billed monthly at $20 with no annual billing or multi-month prepay option.
• Plus includes usage limits such as message caps during high demand, and Free has separate limits on file, image, voice and data-analysis use.
• API usage is billed separately from ChatGPT Plus and is not included in the subscription.

Get started

Log in to ChatGPT; to upgrade, open the profile icon, choose Upgrade Plan, then Get Plus.

1. Go to chatgpt.com and log in or create an account.
2. To upgrade, click the profile icon, choose Upgrade Plan, and select Get Plus.
3. To manage billing, go to Settings, then Account, and confirm you are signed in to the account tied to your subscription.

Plus is $20/month billed monthly; annual billing and prepaying multiple months are not supported. API usage is separate and billed through the API platform.
