What it does
ClinicalKey AI takes clinical questions typed or dictated in natural language and returns summarized answers drawn from a curated, copyright-cleared knowledge base of clinical guidelines, full-text journal articles, drug information and medical reference texts. Each response includes citations linked to the supporting published evidence, and real-time citation validation checks that statements are grounded in those references. Responses can be tailored to patient context such as age, comorbidities and current medications when prompted.
Clinicians use it at the point of care to ask follow-up questions, review cited sources, and share answers with colleagues, including people without accounts. The Reading Assistant summarizes content and highlights key information without leaving the workflow, and Deep Research mode produces a structured, citation-rich evidence synthesis. The product is also described as EHR and API-enabled, with SMART on FHIR SSO for EHR access and a mobile app with voice-to-text dictation.
ClinicalKey AI suits clinicians, residents and medical students who want cited evidence summaries during practice or training. Individual subscriptions are available only in supported countries, and institutional access follows a separate arrangement. Elsevier offers introductory trials and a free year for eligible medical students in the United States and Canada, but its pages currently disagree on the standard trial length. An active subscription is required for the mobile app. Clinicians should verify the sources and check whether guidance applies to their patient and jurisdiction.
