D-ID Agents
AI avatar agents that answer questions face to face from your connected knowledge.
- Tool type
- Interactive AI avatar agent
- Made for
- Support, sales and training teams
- Runs on
- Web builder and embedded experiences
- Studio is the no-code builder; the API is for developers integrating agents into their own code. Embedding and sharing are described for websites, apps and LMS.
What it does
D-ID Agents takes in the knowledge you connect, such as documents, websites and text, along with a chosen avatar, voice and role instructions. It produces a real-time interactive AI avatar that speaks, reacts to visitors and can show facial expressions. Depending on setup, the agent can also take actions in connected tools, search the web, remember returning visitors, and read what a visitor shows on camera.
People use it on websites, in apps, inside LMS course players, and on company intranets for support, sales qualification, role-play training and employee help-desk questions. Its distinct focus is the face-to-face avatar layer rather than text chat: the page contrasts it with a chatbot that answers only in a text window. Insights and conversation recordings with evaluation are also described for monitoring performance.
It suits support, sales, training and internal help teams that want a visible, spoken assistant. Studio requires no code, while the API is for developers who connect their own LLM or add avatars to LiveKit or ElevenLabs agents. A free tier is mentioned for building and testing before paying. Limitations include preview mode not showing sound or face animation, and language support for featured avatars listed as English, German, Portuguese, French and Spanish.
What it can do
- Answers questions from connected documents, websites and other resources as a knowledge base
- Takes actions through connected tools, such as scheduling meetings and opening forms
- Searches the web for information beyond the connected knowledge base
- Recognizes returning visitors and remembers prior interactions
- Uses visitor camera input to respond to documents or objects shown on screen
- Records conversations and provides insights on questions and topics
Works with
- LiveKit (add a D-ID avatar to an existing LiveKit agent, via API)
- ElevenLabs (add a D-ID avatar to an existing ElevenLabs agent, via API)
- OpenAI-compatible endpoint (connect your own LLM, via API)
Example workflows
- Website help center answers
- Illustrative example. Input: help center articles and a visitor question about changing a booking. Steps: the avatar embeds as a floating widget on the help center, answers from the articles, and offers an action such as opening the booking change form. Output: a spoken answer with source citation and a link to the form, with escalation to staff when needed.
- Sales role-play training in an LMS
- Illustrative example. Input: a lesson with a role-play brief and a learner practicing a pricing objection. Steps: the learner converses with the avatar playing the customer inside the course player, and the agent responds with realistic replies. Output: practice results saved to the LMS as learner progress.
Before you choose
