What it does

E2B takes an agent's commands, code, files, and network requests and runs them in an isolated Linux microVM for each session. You bring the model, prompts, and agent logic; E2B provides the machine underneath. Outputs include command results, files, charts and images from code execution, and screenshots or live streams for computer-use agents.

Teams use E2B to give agents a full sandbox for coding, data analysis, browser or desktop control, background jobs, evaluations, and reinforcement learning rollouts. Each session gets its own microVM, snapshot-based boot keeps startup fast, and secrets can be used by the sandbox through an egress proxy without being readable inside it. Deployment is available on E2B Cloud or inside your own AWS, GCP, or Azure account.

E2B is aimed at developers and enterprise teams building agent products that run untrusted or AI-generated code. You access it through JavaScript and Python SDKs, a CLI, and an API, with a web console for signup. Billing combines per-second sandbox runtime with plan fees, so costs track usage, and BYOC deployment is arranged with enterprise sales rather than self-serve.

What it can do

  • Runs an isolated Linux microVM per agent session with commands, code, and a PTY
  • Executes Python or JavaScript via Code Interpreter and returns charts, tables, and images
  • Provides a full desktop with screen, mouse, and keyboard for computer-use agents via Desktop
  • Persists files and mounts storage buckets such as S3 buckets
  • Pauses, resumes, snapshots, and forks sandboxes
  • Holds secrets in a vault that the sandbox can use through an egress proxy without reading them

Works with

  • OpenAI Agents SDK
  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • CrewAI
  • LangChain Deep Agents
  • Google ADK
  • Vercel AI SDK
  • MCP servers (200+ called from inside the sandbox)

Before you choose

  • Costs are billed per second of running sandbox, plus plan fees and any concurrency add-ons, so estimate run hours and concurrency before choosing a plan
  • Hobby sessions are limited to 1 hour and 20 concurrent sandboxes; Pro allows 24-hour sessions and 100 concurrent sandboxes
  • BYOC and private cloud are enterprise arrangements; the private cloud option is marked in development on the page
