Flower
Build federated AI systems across distributed datasets
- Tool type
- Federated AI development framework
- Made for
- Machine-learning developers and researchers
- Runs on
- Python and supported client environments
What it does
Flower is an open-source framework for federated learning and related distributed AI experiments. It lets developers coordinate learning across participants while adapting the training strategy and client implementation to the use case. Integrations cover frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX and scikit-learn, with examples for model training, fine-tuning and federated analytics.
Researchers can extend the framework’s components and compare approaches using its published baselines. It is useful when a project needs to train or evaluate across separate data holders rather than collecting every dataset into one training location. The Apache 2.0 software is free to use; deployment, compute and any managed services are separate. Federated execution still requires a considered privacy and security design for the exchanged updates.
What it can do
- Federated model training
- Custom federation strategies
- ML framework integrations
- Federated fine-tuning examples
- Federated analytics
- Research baselines
Works with
- PyTorch
- TensorFlow
- JAX
- scikit-learn
- Hugging Face
Before you choose
- Compute, networking and managed deployment can add costs.
- Federated learning does not by itself establish a privacy guarantee.
