Grafana Cloud Agent Observability
Monitor, evaluate, and improve production LLM agents in Grafana Cloud
- Tool type
- Hosted observability and evaluation for LLM agents
- Made for
- Engineering and SRE teams running production LLM agents
- Runs on
- Grafana Cloud stack, accessed via web and instrumented SDKs
- Data is sent from application code via SDKs into Grafana Cloud, where conversations and traces are browsed.
What it does
Agent Observability in Grafana Cloud takes in telemetry from LLM agents, including generations, tool calls, workflow steps, token usage, and cost data, through OpenTelemetry-based SDKs for Go, Python, TypeScript, Java, and .NET. It produces searchable conversations, replayable traces, latency, token and cost trends, online evaluation scores, guard decisions, and offline experiment reports, correlated with the metrics, logs, traces, and profiles in the same Grafana Cloud stack.
Teams use it to debug production failures by replaying prompts, tool calls, and responses, to run live evaluations and guards that flag hallucinations or unsafe output on real traffic, and to compare prompts, models, and agent versions in experiments before release. Built-in framework integrations for LangChain, LangGraph, OpenAI Agents, and Vercel AI SDK are described as making instrumentation automatic. The distinct value is joining agent behavior with the surrounding infrastructure telemetry in one place.
It suits engineering and SRE teams running LLM agents in production. A Grafana Cloud account is required; the Free plan includes 30k generations and 25M system-initiated tokens per month, while paid usage is $1.50 per 1k generations and $2 per 1M evaluation and guard tokens on top of a $19 monthly platform fee. Limitations include that Pro requires a platform fee and Enterprise requires a $25,000 annual minimum commit, and that the product is defined around the Grafana Cloud stack, so teams outside it must adopt that platform.
What it can do
- Replay prompts, tool calls, and responses to inspect how an agent reached an answer.
- Run online evaluations and guards on live traffic to detect hallucinations, unsafe output, and policy violations.
- Track latency, token usage, and cost by agent, run, and model.
- Correlate agent behavior with metrics, logs, traces, and deployments.
- Run offline experiments to compare prompts, models, and agent versions before deploying.
- Capture generations, tool calls, and token usage via thin SDKs for Go, Python, TypeScript, Java, and .NET.
Works with
- LangChain
- LangGraph
- OpenAI Agents
- Vercel AI SDK
- OpenTelemetry
Before you choose
- Telemetry usage counts toward Grafana Cloud free-tier allowances and is billed separately from generation and token charges on paid plans.
- Pro requires a $19 monthly platform fee on top of pay-as-you-go generation and token rates; Enterprise requires a minimum $25,000 annual commit.
- Review the privacy, redaction, and data residency documentation before sending sensitive prompts or responses.
