What it does
Harmonic Security is an AI governance platform for security teams. It takes in AI activity across a workforce, including prompts sent through browser-based tools, desktop AI apps and developer tools, and actions taken by autonomous AI agents through MCP. It produces an inventory of which AI tools are used and why, risk scores for applications, classification of sensitive data in context, and, depending on the tier, real-time warnings, coaching, or blocking.
Teams typically use Harmonic to move from unknown AI usage to governed usage. They deploy a browser extension or endpoint components through management tools such as Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or Group Policy, then review discovery and use-case reports before setting policies. Harmonic says it classifies the meaning of the work rather than matching keywords, and that enforcement extends to agent actions as well as chat prompts. It positions itself as complementary to SASE and Microsoft Purview.
It suits CISOs, security architects, and IT leaders who need AI-specific visibility across many vendors. The pricing page lists three tiers, Explore, Guide, and Command, but does not show amounts, so cost must be confirmed with the vendor. Some capabilities, such as prompt injection blocking, are marked coming soon, and inline enforcement depends on the surface involved.
What it can do
- Discover AI tools used across the workforce, including unsanctioned tools and personal accounts, with prompt-level visibility across 1,000+ applications.
- Classify AI interactions into business use cases and task-level analysis to show how tools are used.
- Detect sensitive data in context in under 200 milliseconds, without relying only on regex.
- Apply inline employee coaching that warns, nudges, or blocks, with policies by data type, application, and user role.
- Monitor and govern AI agents through MCP client and server discovery and granular read, write, and execute permissions.
- Stream interaction data and alerts to SIEM/SOAR tools via webhooks and a full prompt audit log.

Before you choose
- Enforcement depends on the surface: the site states that inline controls apply where the application and deployment method support them, while other surfaces are monitoring only.
- Prompt injection detection and blocking is listed as coming soon in the Command tier, so it should not be assumed available.
- Pricing amounts are not listed publicly; cost and trial terms must be confirmed directly with the vendor.

- Deploy the Harmonic browser extension or endpoint components via Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or Group Policy.
- Connect identity providers (Entra ID, Okta, or Google) so alerts are enriched with employee identity data.
- Begin in a warn-and-log mode during rollout, then add blocking for high-confidence events involving sensitive data or risky accounts.
