What it does

Kimi, from Moonshot AI, takes typed questions plus uploaded files (PDF, Word, Excel, PPT, images, TXT and video, up to 100 MB each, up to 50 files) and returns answers, reports, slide decks, spreadsheets, documents or generated websites. Chat decides on its own whether to search the web, and offers several models, including K2.6 for fast replies, K3 for harder chat and agent tasks, and K3 Swarm for large searches and batch work.

People use it for everyday questions, Deep Research reports with traceable citations, Excel and PPT generation, document review, and building and publishing websites without coding. It is distinct for its agent range: Agent Swarm can coordinate up to 300 sub-agents in parallel, Kimi Claw runs a continuously operating cloud agent, Kimi Code provides a CLI and VS Code extension, and Kimi Work is a local desktop agent in beta for Mac and Windows.

It suits students, knowledge workers and developers who want one assistant for research and file-heavy tasks.
