What it does
LM Studio Bionic is a desktop agent app for open models, separate from LM Studio. You give it a task inside a project, and it runs a session for coding, research, or work with documents and files. Several sessions can run at once across projects, so separate tasks stay isolated.
Each session can choose where its model runs: a local model on your computer, a remote model on another device through LM Link, or a frontier open model in LM Studio Secure Cloud with Zero Data Retention. Local and LM Link models do not use Bionic cloud credits and need no LM Studio account. Advanced low-level configuration still happens in LM Studio itself.
Bionic suits developers and knowledge workers who want an open-model agent for coding and document tasks. Cloud models require an LM Studio account with available credits, managed through the Hub. Local and LM Link models can be used without signing in.
