What it does
Manus is a general AI agent that works in its own cloud environment instead of only answering questions. A user describes a task in plain language, optionally attaching files or connecting apps, and Manus plans the steps, browses the web, writes and runs code, and returns finished work such as research reports, slide decks, websites, apps, images, video or recurring automations.
It is used through the web, desktop and mobile apps, and a REST API lets developers create and manage tasks from other software. Individuals can start on a free plan with daily credits; Pro and Team plans add monthly credits and more concurrent tasks, and Team adds shared credits, SSO and usage analytics. Manus 2.0 added a desktop workspace called Manus Studio, Video Editor and Game Dev modes, event-triggered automations and Manus Flex, which lets users power Manus with their own model API key.
Usage is metered in credits that are consumed by model tokens, virtual machines and third-party APIs, so long or heavy tasks can use an allowance quickly. In August 2026 Manus asked some users to back up and restore their data while it separated from Meta; it has operated independently since 1 September 2026.
What it can do
- Complete multi-step tasks in a cloud sandbox with a file system, browser and code execution
- Build full-stack web apps, games, slides, images and video from a prompt
- Run Wide Research: parallel research across many sources
- Start automations on a schedule or when an event occurs in a connected service
- Connect apps and custom MCP servers so one prompt can act across tools
- Create and manage tasks programmatically through the Manus API
Works with
- Slack
- Gmail
- Notion
- GitHub
- Zapier
- MCP connectors
- Manus API
Before you choose
- Usage is credit-metered: credits are used by model tokens, virtual machines and third-party APIs, and the free plan has a monthly cap on daily-refresh credits.
- Manus separated from Meta in 2026 after joining it in December 2025; some users had to back up and restore data in August 2026, and the company says it is operating independently again.
