What it does

Photoroom takes in product photos and returns edited listing images and short video ads. Its tools include background removal, AI shadows, AI backgrounds, product staging, resizing, retouching, virtual fashion models and a video ad maker. Outputs are exported images sized for marketplaces and social channels, and it can also publish to Shopify.

People use it in the web app, mobile apps or through a REST API to clean up a single product shot, or to batch-edit many images in one job. A Brand Library applies saved colors, logos and layouts so images stay consistent. It also connects to Claude through an MCP connector, so edits can be requested in chat. It is built specifically for selling products rather than general image editing.

It suits small online sellers, growing brands and larger catalog teams. Paid plans cap monthly AI credits and exports, and the credit-heavy tools such as video, fashion models and Edit with AI draw from the credit pool. Video and 4K output need Max or Ultra. Generative features can alter product details, so accuracy-sensitive images should be checked. Enterprise terms are arranged through sales.

Input: a folder of product images and saved Brand Library rules. Steps: choose edit parameters, run a batch job in the app or API, review results. Output: consistent, on-brand images across the catalog.

• Plans cap monthly exports and AI credits; credit-heavy tools such as Video Generator and Edit with AI consume the credit pool, and exports pause at the limit.
• Generative features can change product details, so accuracy-critical images need human review.
• API and MCP usage is billed separately from app plans, at API rates.

1. Create a Photoroom account at app.photoroom.com and start with the free trial or a paid plan.
2. Upload a product photo and try Background Remover or AI Backgrounds.
3. Save brand colors, logos and layouts in the Brand Library, and connect Shopify if you sell there.
